New Assignment

ASSIGNMENT NUMBER TWO - Set of Four Themed Postcards

Okay gang, so we have a new assignment. You mission will be to design a set of themed postcards (These can be related by city, state, country. They must be a real place and have a real link to one another. Examples from last year include...the world's scariest places, strange cities in Tennessee, monuments in countries, world's largest collections...yes one is in Trenton, TN, etc.) The design must consider both front and back (postcards do have both). They must be in postal regulation. Please download the template for a 5x7 card off of modernpostcard.com (here is the link: http://www.modernpostcard.com/knowledge/templates) Select Illustrator CS4 for software and 5x7 postcard and search. Please click on the first template that pops up. This will pull open your download box and drag your folder marked 5x7_Illustrator onto your desktop. This will give you a vertical and or horizontal file. You can use either. You will have to work in CS4 and you will have to respect the postal guidelines and no design zones that are regulatory for them. This assignment will be printed in color, you will have a choice of fonts and will have a full bleed. Also you will have to print off two copies of the four cards, one to be mounted in your frame while the others will be passed around the class in your custom built slipcase.

For Monday - You will need 200 thumbnails in your sketchbook. Please number them and make things easier by having 10 thumbnails printed off on a page. You may group them by idea (if you have 10 ideas and do 20 thumbs per idea...and or if you have one idea of a place...do 50 thumbs per front of the card...end result - please have your rough ideas / final idea accounted for in the collection of thumbnails at the end). Monday we will be working through your thumbnail designs.
